Autism Scholarship to be Awarded by Dentistry by John Barras, DDS
Dr. Barras is happy to announce that the Houston office of Dentistry by John Barras, DDS is once again offering a scholarship in the amount of $1,000 for individuals who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This is an educational scholarship that will be available to offset a portion of the tuition cost of attendance at the school chosen by the successful applicant. The scholarship program instituted by Dr. Barras is designed to provide encouragement – in the form of financial assistance – to better enable those with ASD to further their schooling and reach their educational goals.
The Relationship Between Education and Autism
Autism Spectrum Disorder includes a variety of conditions, many of which can have a significant effect on both education and on how those with ASD conduct their everyday lives. Dr. Barras, the other dentists at the office, and his entire staff join in the hope that by offering this scholarship, they will provide an added incentive to those with ASD to take the steps necessary to continue their studies.
2020-2021 Autism Scholarship
As noted above, the scholarship will be used to pay a portion of the tuition for the winning applicant. That tuition may be at a university, college, junior college, or a trade or vocational school. The tuition will be paid directly to the educational institution chosen by the winner. While it is not a requirement that you currently attend or are enrolled at school when you submit your application, the tuition assistance must be used within 1 year from the date the award is announced.
Who is Eligible for the Scholarship?
The scholarship contest may be entered by any citizen of the U.S. diagnosed with ASD, who intends to move forward with his or her education.
